2018 Grenache
2018 Grenache
Tasting notes:
Smoked and sweetly spiced raspberry and strawberry with black tea and spring flowers. There’s even a raspberry hard candy note that comes piercing through with some dark spice notes. Swirling sweetens the red fruit and adds some red currant and vanilla bean. The palate has volume and fresh red fruits with just the right amount of spice and structure. The wine is still young but engaging enough to drink now.
The only remaining non Bordeaux varietal we will continue to bottle, this Grenache is from a high elevation site on the Royal Slope and made from two clones of Grenache(Tablas Creek and Clone 3). Fermented in 100% stainless steel with 10% whole cluster. Aged for 21 months in 30% new French oak 500L’s. This wine was racked once only to blend and was bottled July, 2020 unfined and unfiltered.
