2020 ALLEROMB – Ultima

Aging: 20 months in 100% new French oak 265L LUMEN barrels.

Vintage:

In 2020 we saw normal budbreak and moderate early season growing conditions and overall was a warm to hot vintage. The season was marred by wildfires and potential smoke taint issues depending on the location of your vineyard sources in relation to the fires. Despite the fires the overall conditions brought phenomenal growing conditions, with some of the highest phenolic material I’ve seen in my career. The wines are plush, with enough structure to age and whites like Sauvignon Blanc are absolutely stunning. The fall unfortunately brought several freeze events during the third and fourth week of October that ended the season for the entire state.

Wine:

2019 is the inaugural vintage of our Última Cabernet Sauvignon. Última meaning “the last or the final” is the pinnacle of our portfolio while being our most structured and ageworthy wine. During blending, Última is selected from the best Cabernet Sauvignon of the vintage and aged exclusively in our proprietary Lumen barrels. A classic Cabernet with floral undertones, lithe tannins and a long cocoa powder dusted finish.

Winemaker notes:

Expansive nose of plum and currant puree, cocoa powder, lavender and sage with a hint of dried hardwood spice. Swirling adds sweetness to the rich black fruits, as it continues its towering display of complex fruit, spice and saline. An elegant monster of a wine, with incredible volume and presence, intermixed with extremely fine, penetrating tannins and floral undertones. Another level of power and sophistication in this Última.
