2020 Grenanche
2020 Grenanche
Intoxicating nose of raspberries, dried strawberry, potpurri and lightly singed herbs. Swirling adds sweet red currants, bing cherry and dried hardwood. The palate is fresh with squeezed red fruits, blood orange and a lifted floral finish. Stunningly elegant.
2020 ALLEROMB – Grenache
Blend: 100% Grenache
Aging: 21 months in neutral French oak 500L’s.
AVA: Columbia Valley
Alcohol: 15.1%
Vintage:
In 2020 we saw normal budbreak and moderate early season growing conditions and overall was a warm to hot vintage. The season was marred by wildfires and potential smoke taint issues depending on the location of your vineyard sources in relation to the fires. Despite the fires the overall conditions brought phenomenal growing conditions, with some of the highest phenolic material I’ve seen in my career. The wines are plush, with enough structure to age and whites like Sauvignon Blanc are absolutely stunning. The fall unfortunately brought several freeze events during the third and fourth week of October that ended the season for the entire state.
Wine:
This Grenache is from a high elevation site on the Royal Slope and made from two clones of Grenache(Tablas Creek and Clone 3). Fermented in 100% stainless steel with 10% whole cluster. Aged for 21 months in neutral French oak 500L’s. This wine was racked once only to blend and was bottled June, 2022 unfined and unfiltered.
